Another lender dropped the ball—we picked it up and ran it across the finish line.

We recently closed an SBA 7(a) business acquisition loan for $1,726,100 on behalf of a highly experienced banker and new U.S. green card holder who was purchasing a well-established pool services company offering pool cleaning, resurfacing, equipment repair, and deck renovations.

The Problem: Declined at the Closing Table

Our client had already been fully approved and cleared to close with another lender. Then—two months into the process and at the closing table—he was told the loan couldn’t fund without a contractor’s license.

That’s a detail that should’ve been addressed on day one—not day 60. So he walked away, frustrated, and came to us.

The Solution: Experience, Not Excuses

At ComCapFL, we don’t make assumptions. We ask the right questions up front, verify key licensing and experience requirements early in the SBA acquisition process, and build the deal accordingly.

In this case, we:

    • Confirmed his operational experience in pool services met SBA guidelines
    • Aligned the timing of the funding with the time required to obtain the necessary license
    • Accounted for his status as a green card holder under the new SBA SOP (effective June 1, 2025)
    • Built in additional lead time to accommodate the SBA’s enhanced review process for legal permanent residents

Bottom line? We closed the deal other lenders couldn’t—and helped our client start living his version of the American dream.

Additional Hurdles in This Deal

Under the 2025 SBA SOP, borrowers with green cards may face longer review timelines due to additional background and identity verification requirements. It’s absolutely possible to close—but it’s imperative to work with a lender who understands this new challenge and is able to do everything possible to push for background checks and documents to be cleared for closing. Regardless, if you anticipate any citizenship document requests or clearances, it’s best to add extra time or extension opportunities to your contract.

Even Bankers Choose Us

This client? A career banker with decades in financial services. And even he chose us over going it alone again. That says everything.

We understand how to structure deals for highly skilled professionals who are new to the U.S. and ready to build something big.
