This hard-working dentist was referred to us just three years after purchasing his commercial real estate, when he couldn’t find a loan to help add more equipment to his growing practice. Without the needed equipment, the business’s margins continued to tighten and the dentist’s personal debt climbed. The bank was hesitant to refinance his conventional CRE loan, which was at risk of coming to term. Although things were tight, we were able to use a pro-forma illustration to tell the story of how successful he would be, given the opportunity to add some capital improvements to the office and grow the practice. We refinanced the CRE, added the capital expenditures and equipment, and added a budget for marketing to increase his patient base and revenues. This is why we call SBA “the story lender”!
